Oryx Pharmaceuticals and Novartis Pharmaceuticals Enter Into Agreement For Central Nervous Sytem Products
Mississauga, Ontario (September 3, 2002) — Oryx Pharmaceuticals Inc. is pleased to announce the acquisition of the Canadian rights to Anafranil® and Restoril® from Novartis Pharmaceuticals Canada Inc. Anafranil (clomipramine) is indicated for the treatment of depression and for the treatment of obsessions and compulsions associated with obsessive compulsive disease. Restoril (temazepam) is indicated for the symptomatic relief of transient and short-term insomnia.
"We are pleased to be acquiring these important products as they enhance our portfolio of products for diseases of the central nervous system"said Doug Reynolds, President of Oryx. Oryx recently launched FXT 40® (fluoxetine), which is the only 40 mg capsule of fluoxetine available for Canada and introduced Trileptal® (oxcarbazepine) for the treatment of epilepsy in a promotion agreement with Novartis.
